How to Choose Ride-On Electric Luggage for Your Market
A buyer's framework for choosing 20-inch and 24-inch ride-on electric luggage: capacity in litres, net weight, chassis, closure type, footrest type and certification coverage.
Start With Size, Because Size Sets the Whole Order
Ride-on electric luggage is bought in two sizes, and almost every catalogue in this category splits along that line. A 20-inch unit is the cabin-oriented size. In our current range it measures 36 x 24 x 53 cm on the 918 STRIPE, 918 FLAT, 666, 188 and 198, and 35 x 23 x 53 cm on the 988 FLAT. A 24-inch unit is the check-in size: the 968 and the 968 FLAT both measure 47 x 24 x 53 cm.
Seven of the nine models we build are 20-inch and two are 24-inch. If a market skews to short-haul business travel and city trips, the 20-inch group is where the volume sits. If it skews to families and longer holidays, the two 24-inch models carry the larger interior and the larger capacity.
Read the Footrest and Closure Columns Before the Photographs
Two specification columns change the buyer's experience more than any cosmetic difference, and neither is obvious from a product photo.
The footrest column separates a telescopic group from a pop-out group. Five models, the 918 STRIPE, 918 FLAT, 666, 188 and 198, share one chassis with a telescopic footrest. The 988 FLAT and the 968 FLAT use a pop-out footrest on a second chassis. Two models, the 988 and the 968, are recorded in our own specification sheet without a footrest entry, so they are not sold on that feature and a quotation for them should not mention it.
The closure column separates a zipper group from a flap group. The 188 and the 198 open with a flap. The remaining seven models use a zipper. Flap openings suit buyers who want a wide, single-lid access; zipper openings suit buyers who prefer a conventional suitcase silhouette.
Match Capacity to the Trip, Not to the Catalogue Rank
Capacity across the range runs from 20 L to 42 L, and those numbers do not track outer size the way a first-time buyer expects. The 20-inch 988 FLAT holds 28 L while the 20-inch 666 holds 22 L. The 24-inch 968 holds 39 L and the 968 FLAT holds 42 L.
Capacity is a function of how the interior is laid out, so a buyer comparing two models should compare litres rather than inches. It is also worth noting that the 968 and the 968 FLAT share identical outer dimensions of 47 x 24 x 53 cm and identical net weight of 7.9 kg. Their difference sits in capacity, footrest type and colour range, not in size, and a listing that presents them as two different sizes is inaccurate.
Weight: Address It Directly
Net weight across the nine models runs from 6.9 kg to 8.2 kg. The 988 is the lightest at 6.9 kg, the 988 FLAT is 7.0 kg, and the 188 and 198 are the heaviest at 8.2 kg.
Buyers who handle a sample for the first time notice the weight, and the honest explanation is that a ride-on unit carries a battery, a motor, a footrest mechanism and a chassis that a conventional suitcase does not. The practical response is to publish the net weight in the specification table rather than in adjectives, and to steer weight-sensitive accounts towards the 988 and the 988 FLAT. Buyers should also know that a heavier model is not a weaker one; the 188 and 198 carry the same electrical system and the same rated load as the lighter models.
Certification Coverage Is Not Uniform Across a Catalogue
A ride-on suitcase is an electrically powered product, so a buyer's compliance team will ask for documents before a first order. Our CE-EMC, FCC SDoC and RoHS documentation, issued in June 2026 by Shenzhen HTT Technology Co., Ltd., covers the 918, 968, 988, 198 and 188 model families. The 666 is not named on those certificates, so a 666 page, a 666 quotation or a 666 sample should not carry a CE, FCC or RoHS claim.
This is worth checking model by model with any supplier, because a certificate that names a model family is not a certificate for every SKU in a range. Buyers who need the documents for a specific model should ask for the certificate pages that list that model number.
Battery transport documents are held by our battery supplier rather than by us. That file includes the UN38.3 test reports, the battery MSDS and the air transport identification documents. A maritime dangerous goods packing certificate is not currently held, because no customer has required one so far; buyers shipping by sea who need it should raise the requirement at the enquiry stage.
What to Confirm Before You Ask for a Quote
Four inputs let a supplier price and schedule an order without a second round of questions. They are the models, the quantity per model, the destination port, and whether a TSA lock upgrade is needed.
The standard lock is not TSA. A TSA lock can be fitted for an additional USD 1 to 1.5 per unit, which matters most for buyers selling into the United States where travellers expect it. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces and models can be mixed inside that minimum. Quotations are issued FOB Tianjin, China, in the USD 103 to 140 range depending on model, and the buyer pays the sample freight, which is refunded once an order reaches 100 pieces.
Every model shares one electrical platform: a 200 W motor, a 37 V 2600 mAh detachable lithium battery rated at 96.2 Wh, a rated load of 110 kg, a top speed of 13 km/h and a range of 12 km. That shared platform is the reason a nine-model catalogue can be quoted quickly, and it is the first question a serious buyer should ask about any supplier's range.
